In line with the Owens Corning sustainability goals and the Swedish EPR regulations paroc is now introducing a new recyclable package for its stone wool insulation. The red-and-white striped packages has been a well-known symbol of the high-quality insulation from paroc since almost 90 years, and the stripes will still be there, but in a new recyclable format as the journey towards the new circular economy and a sustainable future continues.
Across Europe, Owens Corning paroc is conducting the business focusing on highly set sustainability targets. One of the key goals is to establish circular economy business models by 2030. The company is implementing many initiatives to develop technical solutions and practical business models for its products and packaging, so they can be used for beneficial purposes even after they are no longer used for their original purpose.
A specific goal is to reduce the use of plastics by 30% by 2030. Here we have already taken several initiatives; for example, we have decreased the amount of plastic used by increasing the compression of the products. After reducing the use, we also need to make sure the plastic is recyclable, thus saving both energy and carbon in the production process.
