Expanding the PAROC® Vect portfolio with slabs for rectangular ducts

Written By PAROC Technical InsulationDate Published 2026-04-24

PAROC is expanding the Vect portfolio for rectangular ventilation ducts with PAROC® Vect Slab BlackCoat EI30 and EI60, two one-layer 3-in-1 system solutions for rectangular ducts, that combines passive fire protection insulation, condensation risk reduction, and thermal insulation for HVAC ductwork.

In large commercial buildings, rectangular ductwork often runs through tight service areas and sometimes stays visible in open ceiling structures. That puts pressure on every insulation layer around the duct: fire protection methods need to be verifiable, moisture risks need to be controlled, and ideally – also the finish should have an aesthetic appeal.

Developed for rectangular ductwork

With nearly 90 years of experience, PAROC is a well-trusted Nordic brand in fire insulation, recognized for quality and reliability. Building on this heritage, PAROC introduced a new market innovation in April 2025 with the launch of 3-in-1 fire insulation mats for ventilation ducts under the PAROC® Vect portfolio.

Now, the portfolio expands further for rectangular HVAC ducts with PAROC® Vect Slab BlackCoat EI30 and EI60, supporting projects where rectangular ductwork is the standard choice, such as in large and complex commercial buildings. The products have been launched in the Nordics, as of April 15th, 2026.

One layer, three functions: fire protection, thermal insulation and condensation risk reduction

PAROC® Vect Slab BlackCoat is designed as a one-layer installation with a 3-in-1 system that combines passive fire protection, condensation risk reduction and thermal insulation for rectangular ductwork in HVAC systems. It is suitable for all indoor ventilation ducts with medium temperature up to 250°C.

PAROC Vect Slab benefits

Verified fire performance

PAROC® Vect Slab BlackCoat EI30 and EI60 are made of non-combustible PAROC® Stonewool are covered with a black aluminum foil facing.

Both variants are instrumental parts of systems designed to meet the stringent requirements of fire resistance class EI 30 and EI 60, respectively. With a reaction to fire classification of Euroclass A2-s1,d0 (EN 13501-1), the products do not burn or contribute to fire spread.

System solutions are tested in accordance with EN 1366-1 to verify the fire resistance performance of ventilation ducts. Duct penetrations through walls and floors are designed as an integral part of the system and sealed using PAROC® FireSeal, and the product with PAROC BlackCoat Tape, and PAROC® Fire Springs.

As a result, the fire protection design for rectangular duct insulation is clear and easy to verify, and the installation follows the same principles used in fire testing.

More detailed specifications can be found in the relevant Design and Installation Guides, found from the product pages

Condensation risk reduction built into the system

The product is equipped with a BlackCoat facing, a water vapour-resistant barrier, which together with correctly taped joints using PAROC® BlackCoat Tape, reduces condensation risk and water vapour permeability, supporting long-term performance in indoor duct installations. The matte black finish minimises light reflection, offering complete coverage and a discreet appearance for visible installations.

Comfortable handling for efficient work on site

Duct insulation can mean tight spaces and difficult-to-reach areas, rectangular ducts are no exception. The 1.2 m slab length is designed for efficient installation and practical handling. The slabs are easy to cut and offer an installation-friendly balance of stiffness and flexibility, supporting accurate fitting on ductwork even in difficult to reach areas.

Optimised packaging for efficient handling and smoother logistics

PAROC® Vect Slab BlackCoat is delivered in optimised packaging designed for efficient handling on site, with 3 slabs in the EI60 packaging and 6 slabs in the EI30 packaging, supporting smoother workflows from warehouse to installation area.

Vect Slab EI30 EI60 solution

Key benefits at a glance:

  • Portfolio expansion: PAROC® Vect for rectangular ducts now available in EI 30 and EI 60.
  • 3-in-1, one-layer solution: passive fire protection + thermal insulation + condensation risk reduction.
  • Non-combustible PAROC® Stonewool, the highest fire classification for building materials, A1, according to EN 13501-1.
  • Tested fire performance for ventilation duct applications (EN 1366-1), with Euroclass A2-s1,d0 (EN 13501 1)
  • Discreet finish: BlackCoat aluminium coated matte black surface, which minimises light reflection and provides full coverage, optimal for open installations.
  • Comfortable handling: easy to cut, 1.2 m slabs, with nominal density 80 kg/m³ for EI30, and 120 kg/m³ for EI60.
  • Optimized packaging for efficient site handling.

PAROC® Vect Slab BlackCoat brings together tested fire performance, integrated condensation risk reduction and thermal insulation in a single, system-based solution for rectangular ductwork. This supports consistent design, verifiable performance and efficient installation across complex HVAC projects.

Building on nearly 90 years of Nordic fire insulation expertise and the backing of Owens Corning, a global leader in building and industrial solutions, Paroc continues to develop solutions that respond to the modern insulation needs.
