Thermal insulation for optimum operation

Reducing thermal loss

Power plants and process industries require specialist thermal insulation solutions, as the temperature in pipes, boilers, tanks, columns, containers, flue ducts, chimneys and other plant equipment should remain within certain parameters throughout many technical processes. Thermal insulation can therefore be one of the most critical technical challenges for power plants and the process industry. It helps to minimize thermal loss and avoid thermal bridges.

A low thermal conductivity (lambda) of the insulating material is crucial in this regard, because a low lambda means less thermal loss. This is necessary to ensure a more energy- efficient operation and to reduce CO2 emissions and costs.

Investing in good insulation saves CO2 emissions and money as costs for energy are lower

The better the insulation, usually the better the energy efficiency of the entire project. Especially in times of unpredictable energy costs and stricter CO2 authorizations and certificates as well as CO2 emission fines, investments in appropriate insulation are essential. Paroc industrial insulation products offer excellent thermal properties and can help securing efficient operations and reducing energy losses.

Innovative high-performing solutions

Stone wool is particularly suitable for thermal insulation due to its excellent, independently tested technical properties. PAROC offers a complete stone wool insulation product range that meets the requirements of industrial applications: It retains its excellent insulation performance and dimensions even at high temperatures (up to 700°C). This can also reduce the risk of thermal stress, and of burns due to contact with hot surfaces.

Please consult the respective product data sheet for more information.

With PAROC Pro Products (WR), we offer a wide range of insulation solutions: pipe sections and elbows, slabs, mats, and wired mats as well as accessories. Our pipe section PAROC Pro Lock (WR) with innovative Z-Lock, for example, offers the advantages of a double-layer insulation system with a single layer application and can help to minimize thermal bridges caused by the thermal expansion of the pipes. PAROC Pro Pipe Sections (WR) allow for installation without additional cladding support structures, which are often necessary when insulating pipes with wired mats. If using wired mats for pipe insulation, we recommend using Paroc Pro Cladding Support, to minimize thermal bridges often caused by alternative support structures.

Why PAROC PRO products are excellent to minimize thermal loss

Low thermal conductivity

Ensures excellent thermal insulation properties and very low thermal conductivity.

Energy-efficient

Minimizes energy consumption thanks to low lambda values and excellent thermal insulation properties.

Please consult the respective product data sheet for more information.

Longevity/Long-lasting solution

Retains its shape, compressive stress and thermal resistance even at very high temperatures of up to 700°C (complying with standard EN 14303:2009+A1:2013).

For pipes with heat tracing, Paroc offers the new innovative solution PAROC Pro Section WR INS. The product has a pre-installed layer of strong aluminium foil attached to the inside, making it an excellent and efficient alternative to manually wrapping aluminium foil around the pipe.

Our products are available in various thicknesses and are suitable for most applications to increase the efficiency, durability, and reliability of the project and therefore reduce operating costs.

EN17956: Energy efficiency classes for technical insulation systems

Eiif has launched an Energy Efficiency Class calculator. Our calculation tool PAROC Calculus can be used to find the optimal insulation solution, once the heat flow target is known. (It is required to use a calculation tool running to ISO 12241:2022 for this purpose). By minimizing energy losses through appropriate insulation, targeted CO2 savings can be realized with PAROC stonewool insulation products.

PAROC CALCULUS

Find the right insulation for your project

With PAROC Calculus, you can easily calculate the proper insulation for your installation based on the requirements specified for the system. It has recently been updated to ISO2241:2022 and provides you with quick, easy, and transparent results on:

▪ Thermal losses

▪ Surface temperatures

▪ Temperature changes

▪ Freezing times
